A quick one, just want to get some thoughts out:
- It shouldn't be too hard to make a directory-to-website generator in bash. Could then be used for are.na website generation, eg are.na > directory > website.
- I'm making my plant project with 2D cellular automata. I was trying to emulate the look of plant growth for a while, but I realised I wasn't leaning into the medium enough, and I was forgetting that it looks that way because of properties of it's environment. Internodes can lengthen easily, and affect the position of other nodes and internodes, because of the nature of physical structures. I could write a vector based system that tracks each elements position based on a prior element, but that is getting outside of the goal of this project, and doesn't feel the same. The substrate of my plants is my website. How do these conditions affect the growth of a system? What do my plants need to grow? eg what is the equivalent of sunlight, soil, and seed propagation on yesthisislouis.com? And how does optimising for these affect their growth? I made a little "chemical signal" example as a proof of concept. It was remarkably easy and elegant. It's a fun model to program.
