merely a fantasy
1 minute read
I think I thought I would get a better sleep here, but without ever investing in a good neck pillow the necessary support and comfort remains merely a fantasy (oh how I wish it were a dream). I've had a fairly busy week, and felt completely incapable of doing anything to get ready for my trip until today in the morning. It seems like I never learn anything. At least I'm experienced in last minute prep now, and didn't come out too badly.
I had a really good coffee about 4:30am, and now I've shifted to a quiet domestic terminal gate, so small there's no security. In 40 minutes I'll be starting the final leg of my trip - the hour flight to Dunedin.
Now that I've finished the zine I'm itching to get into something else. I've been listening to "Children of Time", and just finished it before I left to the airport. It's a brilliant story about things that happen over a long time, and what a spider society might look like. It got me excited about systems, tools, and meta-cognition. How do you come to understand technology through a web? It makes our internet metaphors feel clumsy, or at least, our grasp of them.
I'm back in Ravensbourne now, and the weather is immaculate. It is a beautiful Dunedin day.
Enough of this, some entries are like getting blood from a stone. I'm going to spend some time this week thinking about my long term goals, and bringing my immediate plans in line.
