error loves and nourishes thy soul

2 minute read

I'm back in Australia now. I fell off completely on continuing my journal, but I'm here now climbing back on the horse.

I'm reframing it in my mind, something I need to constantly practice doing for all kinds of tasks: This journal isn't a challenge to be surmounted, it's a tool for thinking better and reflecting more clearly on my life.

I wont be backdating my travel log today.

The last few days have been a blur of travel and arrival

my therapist told me about someone she knows who believes that our spirits can only travel as fast as a horse can run. i use this as a metric when I am busy and running around out in the world. sometimes i need to sit for a while to let my soul catch up. - taylor ☧ on Are.na, in their channel "being // slow"

I'm staying aware of both the immediate displacement from my 17.5 hour international flight, and the last 3 months of displacement.

unpacking

I've got so much stuff, what a nightmare. It hurts to throw things away. I need to do something though, I can't keep all this stuff. I saw some cool woven mats made with old tshirts in brazil (googled them, they're called rag rugs), I'd love to try making some. I've gained a lot of weight traveling too, I'm worried I won't fit my clothes.

clothes

I want to buy some new clothes before I start work, I think either today or sunday are my last opportunities. More things to throw away later 🥲.

anything else?

Thinking about reflecting on my trip, the good and the bad. How to reflect? I get the question sometimes, "was it worth it?"

  1. Be still. Thou foolish thing, thou canst not wake,
  2. Nor thy tears wedge thy soldered lids apart,
  3. But patter in the darkness of thy heart.
  4. Thy brain is plagued. Thou art a frighted owl
  5. Blind with the light of life thou ’ldst not forsake,
  6. And Error loves and nourishes thy soul.
