El Espanto

1 minute read

I had a little climb yesterday, it wasn't my best though. Struggled with a few basic moves I've done before. After that I just mucked about - playing smash brothers, looking at instagram, I started watching a Documentary called The Dread. I forgot to cancel my Amazon Prime subscription :-(, but at least I can watch this stuff easily now.

El Espanto

It's about the residents of a small town called El Dorado, in the Buenos Aires region of Argentina. They don't use conventional medicine, instead a number of different residents practice healing techniques. Some pray, some use spells, some use affirmations.

The documentary is named after one affliction they wont and can't cure: The Dread. It's an overwhelming fear that comes upon the women of the town (almost exclusively, as I've understood it). There's one man who can cure it, but I don't know how he does it or why he's treated differently than the rest. I think he involves their genitals somehow? I'll keep watching and let you (the journal) know.

It's good listening practice, the accents are extremely thick.

Every day

I am warming up more and more to the idea that everyday will be a sustained effort to bring my actions in-line with my goals. The next step is to know these goals, and interrogate them.

This feels overwhelming. Why should it be? My thoughts and ideals aren't unknowable, nor so complex as to be a huge commitment.

Things often do feel overwhelming. Top of my list needs to be "understanding how to do things", a problem I identified with creative projects but I've realised touches almost all of my responsibilities. I guess some reading on executive functions might help?

hands on tools

I've been using task warrior. The verdict is still out on it. I am enjoying it though, I am a sucker for CLI tools.

Today I'm going to

And some other stuff too, but this is all top of the list.
