I am writing with both hands
2 minute read
I woke up to the sound of heavy machinery and rubble: Work has returned to the barrio.
I'm itching too to get my hands back on the tools, here's what I've got on today:
FinishDo some focussed hours on a prototype of Dog Ate My Homework (not "designed", but functional)- Work on character designs and scenes for RIPE. I feel a lot more confident now that I know the underlying thought.
- Compare travel insurance options
- Do a return.horse comic
- Put away my jumpers
- Book a haircut
Not too much. "& still, the waves"
Catching up with old friends
I caught up with a friend from Uni yesterday, 10 years almost after I last saw him. It was anticlimatic, good though. We spent most of the time talking about movies, tv-series and comedy. What else is there in the mind of a man in his late 20s?
not in the mood for writing
I haven't felt like writing at all the last few days, but decided I didn't want to mention it in the writing itself. I didn't want those bad vibes.
I'm mentioning it here, now, for posterity.
Stronger than the desire not to write today is the desire to write in general.
A habit must be established before it can be improved. Start small. Master the art of showing up. - James Clear.
and something more dramatic:
P.S.
by Franz Wright
- I close my eyes and see
- a seagull in the desert,
- high, against unbearably blue sky.
- There is hope in the past.
- I'm writing to you
- all the time, I am writing
- with both hands,
- day and night.
what else
I read a short paper yesterday morning called Divine Darkness, by Eugene Thacker
It was a bit academic, and referenced a whole lot of mysticism scholars I didn't know. It did have these few lovely lines though:
This leads not to a conciliatory knowing of unknowing, which is really a knowing of something that cannot be known. Instead, it is a negative knowing of nothing to know. There is nothing, and it cannot be known. - Divine Darkness by Eugene Thacker

questions
- What's one thing I'm grateful for?
- What's a present I'm going to give myself today a la Agent Dale Cooper?
