You can focus on the wrong thing
I was determined to finish conjugação yesterday, but apparently more determined to spend 2 or 3 fruitless hours trying to build pompom for an old old OSX. It actually built fine, but was a little buggy in the window placement. Fruitless time, and a familiar pattern I'd like to break. Of course, pompom is supposed to help with this a little, interjecting moments of rest to allow me to recentre - it only works when I'm not actively developing it though.
Eggs benedict
Had a really nice korean-esque eggs benedict this morning. It was served on top of kimchi and bacon, with fresh coriander and a gochujang hollandaise. Will definitely make it at home. Makes me curious to try other hollandaise / eggs bene fusions. I've got a lot of miso paste in the fridge - perhaps?
Got the jeans back
Not as slick a repair as I thought, but still good. I can definitely do the same. They stuck the patch down with some kind of fixative as well as sewing over it, I want to look in that too. They're good jeans, I'm wearing them now to loosen them back out a little.
Finished journal of a solitude
Now I need to go through and type up all the quotes. I put little post-it notes in as I go, it gets messy but its easier to see than pencil underlines. Someone else has already underlined this book, and I see at the end they've noted which pages they underlined. You could probably do something similar with a notebook instead of the book itself, if you were concerned about it. In fact, I think I will do that next time. Maybe even write the quotes out at the time? It feels like a chore to go through them all now.
Another tool I'd like is: a simple, local, goodreads clone. Maybe it's just an easy format to type, and then another tool to produce a static website. Things like that (notion, markdown, html) appeal to me. Generic formats, then ways to combine them for specific problems.
what else?
I was thinking about new yorker cartoons again last night as I went to sleep, can only faintly recall the ideas. Plain drawings, with sharp captions. I love it when a caption really makes it funny, or when the cartoon fortells an event and lets the reader see it happen in their imagination. I tried to find some Farside examples, these aren't my favourite but they illustrate my point.
