A Late Gig Bist
4 minute read
I woke up and did a very mellow yoga session, had some porridge. I felt a bit bitter and defensive, not sure why, feeling vulnerable for some reason.
A great big list.
Yesterday I wrote a big list of things in my bullet journal, a bit of a brain dump. I think it might be interesting to write them down here.
- Hungry the Pit - the zine I want to make for zinefest.
- dinner - you have got to eat.
- CS study - having resolved myself to study CS I need to set up a schedule and way of tracking my progress.
- Portugues - Still doing weekly lessons, still want to learn. Beyond that, I'd like to start tracking where I'm at and where I want to go with it.
- S/A plans - I want to put some structure to my South America plans.
- Repair pants - my jeans have a rip, I want to path it up at some point.
- Write draft article - I'd like to write an essay for the Path towards Form meetup.
- R.H redesign finish - I want to finalise the R.H redesign and implement it
- x journal build - "x" because I did it last night
- food - not sure, maybe I forgot I'd written dinner above
- "having come his far" review - I'd like to go over the last month and a half and review where I'm at regarding my time off and the path ahead.
- sell DESK!!!!! - I really need to sell that desk
- Think about routines - low bar here
- Print off picture for frame - I bought an ikea photo frame recently, I want to print off a pic to go in it.
I find it hard to organise my time, and hard to get things done. Things feel nebulous, I struggle to make them clear and divide them into concrete actions; and even when I do I struggle with procrastination.
I've got a week ahead of me, with things to do, and it's a four day weekend. How do I put these tasks into real time? Something I've done occasionally, and had moderate success with, is giving them time estimates, and then slotting those into my day/week.
I wont always do this in this journal, but it's interesting to type it out here today, I reckon.

I haven't got a decent time tracking system done yet, so this is a guess, but I think I spend about 3 hours each morning doing routine things: Yoga, breakfast, journal, shower, vocab. I probably, at this stage, only spend about 4 hours a day doing anything that looks like work. If I stick to this plan I've set above, I should be able to get everything done this week. I suppose this is where I'll learn - I can track the estimated task times against their actual time and see where I land.
Ok that's enough writing for today, let's wrap up.
