What in our single beds do we know of poetry?

What have I done? clothes and calls

I spent my time yesterday distracted, the running theme of the week. I got my hair cut in the morning, then got home and pottered about a bit. Called mum and Dad for an hour, then they had a guest arrive. I hand stitched the pocket on my shorts - doesn't seem very secure but we'll see, hand stitches are easy to fix anyway. I need to also fix my jeans, a bigger task. I'm thinking about using red thread for my own stitches, as a way to elevate self repair, and draw attention to it as a practice. I used red for the shorts.

I hand washed two jumpers and then laid them out on towels to dry. Ever the fool, I left them outside in the evening and came back to find them wet in the rain. I am constantly undermined by my own incompetence.

Came back from where??

I went to the book launch of Against Disappearance - Essays on Memory with my friend Myles and we had a nice time chatting. Myles is a writer, we talked about the impenetrability of academic and art writing, and we talked about instagram being bad. I showed him Robin Sloanes Fish, It was good to return to it and read it again (good to come back and look at the fish). I had four pints, and today I'm a bit hungover. I need to remember to purchase pots or schooners, a smaller measure - cheaper and easier on the noggin.

I was inspired by Fish, I think I know where I want to go with the website for return.horse

A friend from the old days in dunedin died recently in his sleep. I have learnt that grief should be acknowledged and worked through conciously and with intent, lest the energy required to ignore it leave a permanently unresolved note in my mind.

He was a poet and a writer, he encouraged me in my own work and inspired me with his. He always took my pursuits very seriously and with respect, which is a good thing to do for young people in your life.

I've heard his funeral will be packed.

I've been reading some poems by John Berger, here's a piece of out one called Separation

Our freight.
The bringing together of what has been parted
makes a language quiver.
Across millenia and the village street
through tundra and forests
by farewells and bridges
towards the city of our child
everything must be carried

We carry poetry
as the cattle trucks of the world
carry cattle.
Soon in the sidings
they will sluice them down.

I forgot to do portuguese yesterday

So I'll do it today - a video about "cada" and "todo" to watch then 15 example sentences.
