Jaimie Oliver's Fish Soup

2022-08-13

2 minute read

Had a fantastic day yesterday, the only downside is I've now got loads of documenting to do. Spent time in the morning weaving, making slow progress. At midday I went grocery shopping and bought ingredients for a fish soup, then I cooked it.

Fish soup

I found it in the books I took photos of on thursday, a Jaimie Oliver special (the man is never off). image of a recipe in a book
I'll type it up and add it to my recipes soon.

It came out really well. At first I was worried, I expected amazing complex and rich smells, all I could smell was chilli and tumeric, and then coconut milk. I'd made enough for at least 4 big servings and was getting more and more nervous as it simmered. When it was ready I served a big bowl of it, mixed in some lime juice, and was filled with relief as I found the taste of the soup was all I'd hoped it would be. It uses a lot of whole spices, and each one played a star role with each spoonful. Each clearly anunciated, and complimentary to the others.

Botos Binted 👽

Got the film scans back from my optima, I'm really happy with them. It was a day of unknowns coming through in exciting ways. I'll put them all in this journal, maybe not today though as I've got stuff to get to - weaving to weave and films to see! Of course, I'll probably come back later and add a couple of faves when I fill in the image place holders.

I feel very ugly, I want to sit in this feeling and not demonise it. Nothing wrong with being ugly.

Saloum

I saw Saloum last night, it was pretty fun. I'm not much of a film critic, I enjoyed the characters, the shaky cam made me a little dizzy but it wasn't too bad, the cinematography was dramatic and appropriate. I liked the end too, it felt correct for the genre. Today I'm going to see Robe of Gems.
